Sauna and Cold Plunge Culture in Minnesota for The New York Times

This was a fun one for the New York Times. In Minnesota, winter brings a unique ritual that is a world of contrasts consisting of hot and cold in the form of saunas and cold plunging. Families and friends gather in saunas, then brave the icy lake waters to cool off, and then return to the sauna to warm up. Photographing this assignment was a great reminder winter is what you make of it here in Minnesota and you can either embrace it or wait months for spring to appear. This was a fun one and it inspired us to try cold plunging ourselves. We already have a sauna so it seemed like the natural progression to pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zone.
