Yellow School Bus for Time Inc.

We recently had two shoots that had us photographing the top bus dealers in North America. The first shoot happened here in Minnesota and the second took us to Winnipeg, Canada. Both shoots had us humming the childhood song The Wheels on the Bus go round and round for days.

I spent fun evening at the ballpark in Saint Paul for a Saints game that featured a jury of little leaguers who took the place of the umpires. Needless to say it made for an awesome evening.

We were recently commissioned by the Idaho Potato Board to photograph the owners of the Chef Shack food truck here in Minneapolis. Any shoot that ends with Indian Spiced Mini Donuts is a good day at the office.

I spent a little time in Michigan for ESPN The Magazine for their super cool One Day One Game issue. We have always loved what they have done in the past for their One Day One Game profiles so I was beyond thrilled to be a part of a great team for the Ohio State and Michigan basketball game. Having gone to grad school in Ohio I recall reading newspaper articles warning drivers with Michigan plates to take caution if they are driving in Ohio on the weekend a big game was taking place. Hard to believe but yes it wasn’t an Onion article.

A recent shoot for Bloomberg Markets took us to downtown Minneapolis where we photographed Tim Palmer for the June issue of the magazine. Business portraits are always interesting assignments as you never know for sure how much time you’re going to get and trying to get something in boardrooms is always an exercise in stretching your creative muscle. Tim did not have a lot of time which we were planning for but with a little scouting the day before the shoot we were able to sneak in a few different looks very quickly.

The Field of Dreams for The Wall Street Journal

For an assignment for The Wall Street Journal, we found ourselves at the Field of Dreams in rural Iowa. We both remember seeing the movie as kids so it was fun to experience it in person. If only we had packed a bat and glove to make the experience even better.

PTSD for Mother Jones Magazine

Last fall we had one of those assignments that had us amazed by the power of the human spirit. Kateri and her husband James amazed us with their deep dedication to one another. James returned from serving in Iraq and has dealt with PTSD ever since. In the time we spent with the two and their kids it became rather apparent the passion and love Kateri feels for her husband in helping him deal with returning to his life here in the states. No easy task and we wish them all the best.

Chuck Runyon Anytime Fitness CEO for Entrepreneur Magazine

We had a fun shoot late last year with Chuck Runyon the CEO of Anytime Fitness for Entrepreneur Magazine. Chuck was an awesome guy and very easy to work with, which in turn made the shoot a very enjoyable one as we talked about everything from working out to raising kids. All in all it was a fun day outside the office!

Red Bull Crashed Ice for The New York Times

Last year we missed the Crashed Ice event that happened in Saint Paul. After hearing all the buzz about it last year Jenn and I were planning to go as spectators to check it out it until we got a call from the New York Times to document it. We love when things work out like that. It’s very fitting that the only stop the event makes in the US happens to be in the State of Hockey.
